It’s Fresh, The Place’s one night event featuring some of the UK’s best youth and professional dance companies for a dynamic evening of contemporary dance.

Fresh provides young dancers with the rare opportunity to engage with other dance lovers and professionals, in a fun and supported environment.
The programme includes the award-winning choreographer James Cousins, performing an excerpt from There We Have Been, which takes its inspiration from Haruki Murakami’s bestselling novel, Norwegian Wood.

Also on the bill is the explosive hip-hop dance company Boy Blue Entertainment in Krump – Buck – Amp, a fusion of popping, krump, hip hop, free-styling, break and house dancing with contemporary and theatre dance.

Contemporary circus performer Simone Riccio will be presenting an extract from his My Reclaim, which combines a German wheel act with contemporary circus, dance and video projections.

Cando2, the youth company of Candoco dance company working with disabled and non-disabled dancers, will present an installation entitled Long Play, which has been influenced by French performer Rachid Ouramdane’s Looking Back.

On Robin Howard Dance Theatre’s stage, The Place’s own youth dance company Shift will be premiering The Falling Room, choreographed by Kerry Nicholls, to an original sound score by David Walters. Khronos will present For Queen and Country?, a dance piece set in the war zones of the Middle East, following one soldier’s journey through the physical and psychological demands of the army. I’mPossible by A&R Dance Company, and Accomplices, by London Contemporary Dance School’s students Fionn Cox-Davies and Camila Gutierrez, will complete the programme.

The event will finish at The Place’s theatre bar for an ‘after-show party’ with music from DJ Vitty Dubs.
